70s Spots: Levi’s Animated Classic (1971)

‘The Stranger came to our town, with the power to change dull to extraordinary…’

“His was the magic of Levi’s.”

Here’s one of those great animated Levi’s jeans commercials, a series of which aired throughout the 1970s. This one, featuring a “Stranger” in the Old West theme, aired in December of 1971.

These Levi’s cartoons always seemed a bit magical and it was a minor thrill whenever I caught one playing. I was only five when this one ran. I have a clearer memory of the late 70s ads.

*Note: Bionic visitor, gilgamess1, and YouTube viewer, Christopher Sobieniak, both provided info that the narrator of these spots is Ken Nordine. You may want to check out his cool Jazz recordings.

  1. The narrator is Ken Nordine. The narration is based on a track from his album “Word Jazz” called, “Flibberty Jib”, which also dealt with a stranger coming to town.

    • Thanks! Yes, I was reminded soon after it posted on YouTube that it was Ken Nordine narrating. Appreciate the extra info. =)
