Welcome back. Let’s take a TV walk through the year 1974. On display, we’ve got commercials for St. Joseph Aspirin for Children, Campbell’s Chunky Soup, Phillips’ Milk of Magnesia, and Simmons BeautyRest Mattresses (with Meredith MacRae).

I remember being given St. Joseph Aspirin when I was a kid. I had forgotten it was orange flavor but that memory came right back upon viewing.

“Survival! Survival of the fittest!”

As we try to survive another Monday on this planet – here’s the O’Jays to help us along. “Survival” was written by Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff and appeared on the 1975 O’Jays album of the same title. “Survival” was released as the B-side to “Let Me Make Love To You” and grabbed a #10 spot on Billboard’s R&B chart on its own.

Here we find the group performing on Soul Train in 1975. Play loud.
