70s Spots: Milton Berle For Lums Restaurants (1975)

Milton Berle puttin’ on the schtick for Lums.

“No one else will give you more.”

Here’s two spots for Lums Restaurant starring company spokesperson, Milton Berle.

Like me, you may be wondering, “what the heck is Lums?” The Lums restaurant chain started in Florida in 1956. By 1971 there were 400 locations across the US and Europe. According to Wikipedia, there is only a single (Bellevue, Nebraska) location left standing today. Just don’t blame Uncle Miltie.

Second, a sea plane pilot hops over the mountaintops before gliding down for a brew. The spot aired in December of ’73.

“The first new truck of the ’80s.”

Here’s two Ford spots from the end of the Seventies with the Eighties knocking right on the door.

First a Ford Pickup truck commercial featuring a light bulb-smashing test. (Hint: the truck wins). After that, a commercial featuring the complete Ford truck line-up for 1980. Mediums and big rigs included! Both commercials aired in December of 1979. Truck on.

Smooth operator.

“You’ve gotta feel it to believe it.”

A pair of mildly humorous spots for Schick Super Chromium razor blades are in the grooming chair today. First, we find 17 barbers being shaved with the same razor. Crikey!

Second, a wild man shaves himself inside a Demolition Derby car. Cut to the chase below.
