“The kind of beer you first loved.”

Today, we’ve got a pair of nostalgic commercials for Piels Real Draft beer. What the heck is Peils? It’s a German beer originally out of Brooklyn, New York. The two spots below aired in October of 1972.

Enjoy a quick bit of beer history and have a great Saturday!

“Go Double Beef at Burger King. It’s the only way.”

Haven’t had a burger in 30 years, but I still think this is a great 70s ad. Love the oval shape, swirly lettering, bright blue color and the kid looking at his dad like he’s out of his mind. Burger King ‘Double Beef’ originally appeared in the October, 1976 issue of Ebony magazine.

A veddy happy Monday, Bionic friends. Here we find Joe Walsh and band melting faces with a rocking version of “Turn to Stone” in 1972.

“Turn to Stone” first appeared on Walsh’s Barnstorm L.P. of 1972. It was later re-recorded for Walsh’s So What L.P. of December ’74.

“America’s favorite disposable lighter.”

It’s July of 1975 today and we’ve got two memorable commercials on display. Firstly, one of a series of animated singing mascot commercials for the Cricket lighter. I’m about 95% certain the Cricket is voiced by Ronnie Schell (best known for playing Duke Slater on Gomer Plye, U.S.M.C.).

After that, we have a classic spot featuring a sharpshooter firing at a Master Lock padlock. Good stuff.

“We build every television as if we were going to use it ourselves.”

Greetings, everyone! I was out-of-state with bad hotel wi-fi for a week and then came home with a nice cold – so updates have been light lately. Let’s get things back on track with some classic 70s commercials. The theme today is television.

First up, a spot for GE’s color TV for ’73. After that, one for the Quasar Color TV System from Motorola. Both spots aired in late November 1972. Switch ’em on.

“For Brooks Robinson, Johnny Bench. Reggie Jackson. Who knows… maybe your name will be on a Rawlings glove a few seasons from now.”

I had a Rawlings glove. How about you? Rawlings Baseball Glove originally appeared in the June 1976 issue of Boy’s Life magazine.
