Music For Monday: Glen Campbell, ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ (1975)

"On the road to my horizon..." (Glen Campbell, 'Rhinestone Cowboy,' 1975)

“On the road to my horizon…” (Glen Campbell, ‘Rhinestone Cowboy,’ 1975)

Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy,” from the album of the same name, went to the very top of the Billboard “Hot 100” in September of 1975. The song was written by Larry Weiss and later inspired the 1984 movie, Rhinestone, starring Sylvester Stallone and Dolly Parton. But don’t hold that against it.

Below you can watch Campbell performing his signature tune live during a 1975 TV appearance. It glitters. Shield your eyes.
