“Diet tip: Nibble on a cookie about an hour before lunch.”

This ad seems preposterous almost 44 years later. I love it. Daily 70s Ad #44: Sugar for Energy originally appeared in the November 13, 1970 issue of LIFE magazine.

“Lets you create and revise information right on a screen – before it’s committed to paper.”

Today I’ve got two, nice and ancient Xerox commercials for you to take in. Firstly, we have a funny little spot featuring a political campaign and a photocopier that makes “giant” prints. The second commercial shows off Xerox’s new word processor that actually lets you see the words onscreen before committing them to paper. Can you imagine that?

“Weller & Water – Wonderful.”

Well, lookee there. It’s some seven-year-old, Kentucky straight Bourbon Whiskey. Yee Ha! Daily 70s Ad #43: Weller Bourbon originally appeared in the January, 1975 issue of Texas Monthly magazine.

"There's a comic on every box!" (Post Crazy Cartons cereal commercial, 1977)

“There’s a comic on every box!” (Post Crazy Cartons cereal commercial, 1977)

“They’re like milk cartons. Every box is a bowl.”

Here’s a pair of spots for Post Crazy Cartons cereal from early 1977 (possibly produced late ’76). Crazy Cartons were small milk cartons of cereal and the brands included; Alpha-Bits, Super Sugar Crisp, Honeycomb and Fruity Pebbles.

Yum! How could this fail? There were even comics on the back of the cartons. A winning combo destined to live on in our childhood dreams.

“A smashing victory in the war against drab.”

OK, it’s the Creighton Trench Shirt for $18.00. I get that. What I don’t get is the extraneous shoulder flap and whatever it is that guy has in his hand. Is it a fabric cleaner? Some kind of drowsing device? Daily 70s Ad #42: Bloomingdale’s Trench Shirt originally appeared in the May 24, 1976 issue of New York magazine.
