‘Born Free’ TV title, 1974

Born Free originally ran Monday evenings on NBC from September through December, 1974. The one-hour drama, filmed on location in East Africa, was based on the 1966 film of the same name.

Gary Collins and Diana Muldaur star as husband and wife game wardens, George and Joy Adamson. The couple live in Kenya with a lioness called Elsa and spend their days protecting the local wildlife from the dangers of both man and nature.

Below we have a clip of the band performing “Long Live Rock” for the BBC in 1973. The song (recorded in ’72) didn’t appear on an L.P. until the rarities collection, Odds & Sods hit record shops in October of 1974. The tune was released as a single in various countries in ’74 and again, in mostly different markets, in ’79. Play loud!
