Alrighty, it’s time to get all the way back to the Seventies. Here’s a selection of vintage commercials from approximately 1970 to 1974. We start off with a nifty ABC promo for their “Funshine Saturday” TV line-up. This one brings back fond memories of age seven or so. You may find some warm fuzzies therein yourself.

Following that, soak up spots for Green Giant Corn Niblets, Philco Ford TV sets (with James Harder), and Vanquish pain formula.

VANQUISH FOR HEADACHES COMMERCIAL (1973)

Vanquish extra-strength pain formula commercial with a two-fingered salute theme. Narration by Joe Sirola. Spot aired in 1973.

Sixties week continues (and ends for now). I’ll likely post additional 60s era spots every four to six weeks. We’ll see how it goes, but that sounds about right.

Today, grab a look at commercials for Bold Detergent (with the fabulous Jo Anne Worley), Lancers Rosé wine, Dial Deodorant, and Pontiac “dent-proof” bumpers.

SIXTIES Week: Wow! Something new going down here at the ‘Disco. Well, actually something even older than usual, I guess. We’re focused on 1960s TV advertising this week.

In the first installment of what will be come a semi-regular feature; we get ’60s things rolling with groovy spots for Libby’s Sloppy Joes, ’68 Chevys (with Frankie Randall & Jennie Smith), General Mills Pizza Spins, and Raid (with voice overs by Paul Frees, Mel Blanc, and Dick Tufeld).

Here’s a fine collection of commercials from 1978. First up, one of the best spots I’ve had the pleasure to post: Sammy Davis, Jr. for Alka-Seltzer. It doesn’t get more gloriously Seventies than this.

Following that classic, and in honor of the upcoming evening, a CBS promo for It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Lastly, spots for Hershey’s Hot Cocoa Mix and Chrysler LeBaron. Enjoy the trip to ’78.
