Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you my new favorite tune, “Go Back,” by Crabby Appleton. I discovered this 44-year-old gem a day or two back after stumbling across an ad (see above) in an an ancient Billboard magazine. A brief investigation of YouTube and Wikipedia brought me to the clip below. Crabby Appleton singer, Michael Fennelly posted a rare video of the band’s performance on John Byner’s Something Else TV series from 1970.

“Go Back” cracked the US top 40, hitting #36 on the Billboard “Hot 100.” It’s frustrating that a song this cool is rarely heard today, even on oldies radio. The Something Else TV clip includes the show’s hip opening and it’s worth viewing. If you want to jump right to the song, it begins at 2:17. Go to it!
