“Your Lincoln-Mercury dealer – he’s a pretty sexy guy.”
Let’s drive some automobile spots onto the lot. Here’s a pair of Lincoln-Mercury commercials from November of 1974 with the new ’75 models on display. They’re sexy as all get out.
“The taste that takes you out to the ball game…at home.”
Here’s a pair of commercials for our newly-arrived summer. New York Yankees Manager Billy Martin for Yankees Franks and Martin and Jim Rice of the Boston Red Sox for Colonial Bacon. Both spots aired in early September of 1978.
Yankees Franks Commercial (Billy Martin, 1978)
Colonial Bacon Commercial (Billy Martin, Jim Rice,1978)
All righty! Let’s get to racing. Here’s a spot from November 1973 for Tyco’s Championship Stick-Shift Pro Racing model cars set. Looks like we have some early joystick technology arriving in this one.
After that, keep your tech powered-up with Eveready batteries. This commercial aired in December of ’73.
Rolling out a pair of beer spots now. First up, a commercial for Pabst Blue Ribbon with a turn-of-the-century, first flight theme. This one aired in November of 1972.
Second, a Budweiser backyard basketball rivalry from November of ’73. Drink in the nostalgia.
“You can get tired of hamburger – but you’ll never get tired of Hamburger Helper.”
Here’s a pair of commercials that aired in February 1974 and may have been produced a bit earlier in ’73.
First, a spot for Hamburger Helper with a recognizable actor playing a butcher. Please help me out with a name. It’s not coming to me. *Update: It’s Eddie Barth.
Next, a Morton Lite Salt commercial with gameshow host, Jim Perry sporting a head of salt-and-pepper hair. I see what they did there.
