You see don’t see many clocks with built-in pen holders anymore. Or portable cassette players with wood grain surfaces. Pity. Daily 70s Ad #112: RCA ‘Sounds Of Spring’ originally appeared in the May 07, 1971 issue of LIFE magazine.

Hanna-Barbera’s Casper and the Angels originally ran Saturday mornings on NBC from September, 1979 to May, 1980. 13, 30-minute episodes were produced.

The show brought Casper the Friendly Ghost into the 22nd Century and made him the guardian spectre for two motorcycle policewomen; Minnie and Maxie. As per usual, Casper was loath to scare anyone, so his bizarre ghost buddy, Harry Scary assisted with the work of frightening the villains.

Funky Turns 40: Black Character Revolution Exhibition

First Up, Pamela Thomas of the Museum Of UnCut Funk let me know that a very cool exhibit entitled: Funky Turns 40: Black Character Revolution Exhibition is currently on display in NYC.

The exhibit “commemorates the 40th anniversaries of 1970’s Saturday morning cartoons that featured positive Black characters for the first time in television history” and presents “60 pieces of Animation Art” such as original production cels and drawings. You can view the exhibit through June 14, 2014 at the Schomburg Center For Research In Black Culture in New York. After that, the show moves to the DuSable Museum Of African American History running July 13-October 20, 2014.
