Today, we dive into vintage commercials for Cap’n Crunch cereal (starring the voice of Daws Butler), Wish-Bone Italian dressing (narrated by William Shatner), Schlitz Malt Liquor (with Robert Ridgely), and Garanimals kid’s clothing. Super 70s Ads: Ella Fitzgerald For Jim Beam

Here we find one of the all-time greats, Ella Fitzgerald, raising a large glass of Jim Beam. After she’s finished her refreshing beverage she will sing and hold a long note – and that glass will shatter into a million pieces. I’ve seen it happen in a million Memorex commercials. That’s just a fact.

Ad appeared in the August 1974 issue of Ebony magazine.

Music For Monday: Blondie, ‘(I’m Always Touched By Your) Presence Dear’ (1978)

Blondie’s “(I’m Always Touched By Your) Presence Dear” appeared on the band’s 1978 LP Plastic Letters. The song was written by former bassist Gary Valentine, who was no longer a member of the group when the tune was recorded and released.

“(I’m Always Touched By Your) Presence Dear” reached #10 on the UK charts and hit the top 20 in the Netherlands and in Belgium. Below, you’ll find excellent video from Europe’s TopPop program which aired on April 29, 1978.
