Music For Monday: Johnny Mathis, ‘My Funny Valentine’ (1970)

Happy Valentine’s Day, one and all. Let’s celebrate (or not, your choice) the day with Johnny Mathis singing “My Funny Valentine” on The Ed Sullivan Show. The performance aired on November 22, 1970.

Mathis first released his version of “My Funny Valentine” on the 1959 LP Open Fire, Two Guitars. Not long after this performance, he released another version on 1971’s Tenderly LP.
