Here’s a very yellow ad for a very fine song, Electric Light Orchestra’s “Turn To Stone.” Written and produced by Jeff Lynne, “Turn To Stone” is the lead-off song and was the lead-off single for the Out Of The Blue LP in the fall of ’77. The song grabbed #13 on the US Hot 100 and #18 in the UK.
The above ad appeared in the November 19, 1977 edition of Record World. Let’s watch and listen to this magnificently-crafted slice of pop below.
As the Thanksgiving holiday is almost upon us, I can finally post the assortment of holiday-appropriate commercials I’ve been saving up. You’ll find two spots from 1972; one for Reynolds Wrap and one for Armour Turkey. Following those, two spots from 1978 featuring Carvel Ice Cream Cakes and the Kenmore Microwave.
Here at home, as long-time vegetarians, we’ve got our plant-based meal ready to go and we’ll be gathering with family Thursday – which we weren’t able to do last year. I hope you all have a joyous and safe Thanksgiving!

Here’s something a bit unusual. It’s the O’Jays performing their hit “Love Train,” but they’ve changed the lyric to “Soul Train” while gracing the show.
“Love Train” was written and produced by Gamble & Huff and reached #1 on the US Hot 100. I’m guessing this TV appearance is from 1973, or possibly ’74 , as “You Got Your Hooks In Me” (1973) was also played. The oversized bow ties and impressively large suit collars also imply the late ’73/early ’74 period. Let’s enjoy this curiosity.

Ride on and have a wonderful weekend! Me? I’m off to bed to rest off last night’s booster shot. See you back here on Monday.
