The Red Lobster sailors are eager to serve you

“Where America goes for seafood.”

Eat, drink, and be merry in a 1977-style with our commercials today. First, a spot from November ’77 for Red Lobster restaurant. Second, one for Kool-Aid from April of ’77.

‘From Hartford to Honolulu…’

“The collar that conquers the flea.”

As summertime approaches, our retro-thoughts turn to the influx of insects. Here now, are two related commercials from August of 1971.

First up, a spot for the Hartz 90-Day Collar for dogs and cats. Second, a spot for Raid Yard Guard. Oh, my – the spraying! I had forgotten about this product.

Loni sez: ‘It’s a Garden of Eatin’!’

“We have fresh ideas at Red Barn!”

Here’s a pair of restaurant-fast food commercials from the fall of 1977. In the first, WKRP in Cincinnati‘s Loni Anderson appears in mildly comedic spot from November of that year.

After that, another November ’77 commercial, this one for Church’s Fried Chicken from the Kentucky market.

Swinging back in time all the way to 1970 for two commercials from once-giant companies. First up, a Kodak film spot featuring changing seasons from June ’70.

After that, a Timex spot from November ’70 featuring commentator John Cameron Swayze and a Florida swamp buggy durability test.

Are you ready for some…polyester?!

“In today’s Dacron Polyester.”

Here’s two fashionable commercials for Palm Beach clothing starring sportscaster Frank Gifford. Both of these Gifford spots aired in March of 1978. I especially like the shot of the stylish sportsman zipping across town on a moped. Look for it.

Someone’s sampled a bit too much frosting

“That’s what makes it rich!”

Time for a tea party with plenty of snacks. First, we have a commercial featuring a very happy cake maker singing the virtues of Pillsbury’s Rich ‘n Easy frosting mix.

After that, a mother and daughter share some Ruffles potato chips. Both spots aired in January of 1974 and were likely produced in ’73.
